coming soon: fall 2021 events... i think!!

^anybody else still feeling this? ;D i am! :D

BUT, despite what 2020 was and whatever is coming at us at captain’s speed, i DO have two events for 2021 happening! woohoo!

event details, and then keep scrolling down for a peek at NEW (smaller) original art i’ve been making for these events! :D (i’ll be selling the originals only, not signed limited edition reproductions like my full-sized faerie tale feet pieces.)

first up: the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival in Reston, Virginia September 10-12.

2020 would have been my first year at the show… and a cancellation and two postponements later, it looks like it’s ON! (masks in books, social distancing, etc. but real art! and me, in person!)

and then, An Occasion for the Arts in Williamsburg, VA October 2-3!!

this is a favorite show of mine (not just because of the cheese shop, but it IS a perk.)

and now for NEW ART!

you might know it’s in my top ten fave movies of all time. but i wanted to do a mini… so we got a little (happily) experimental with this one! ^here’s my sketchbook and reference material as i find the right composition for the finished piece….

went to my local music store. they sold me a printed copy of the sheet music… which i shrunk down and painted…. so that i could cut out tiny umbrellas and rain drops… :)

i think this is the finished painting! mostly gouache with those sheet music collage elements! it looks amazing in the frame and if you come see me at the NoVA Fine Arts Festival in september, you’ll be the very first to see it and collect it!

yes, i’ve done two full-sized wizard of oz pieces in the faerie tale feet collection already. BUT i just can’t stop painting those ruby slippers!! this one was a LOT of fun with that book collage in the background… had a pattern and a glueing map and everything… and i love painting faux sequins… ;) again, this is a progress shot, so come see me to collect the 8x8” original (in frame to about 12” square!)

so i was going to paint the pages of alice’s adventures in wonderland for the hearts in the foreground, but the copy i bought to chop up (don’t worry; it definitely was NOT antique!) happened to have the tinted john tenniel illustrations, so i cut out the grass hearts from the green bits of pictures inside…

dozens and dozens of tiny hearts glued down later… plus painting… plus inking… plus some word clouds… well, i made my newest favorite faerie tale feet piece ever. can’t wait for you to see the finished original! ;D

so those aren’t the ONLY new pieces you’ll see. but hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!
